Whistler Chocolate / Pocket Chocolate - Whistler BC

One of the finest organic fair trade chocolate bars in Canada, Whistler Chocolate’s bars are fair trade certified. They are made from the finest organic ingredients including extra smooth dark chocolate with a minimum of 74% cocoa content and extra creamy high cocoa content milk chocolate (40% cocoa).

Whistler Chocolate was founded in November 2006 by adventure and chocolate loving Whistler locals. Their goal was to combine a love of chocolate with their love of the Whistler lifestyle. They wanted to provide premium quality organic chocolate for both Whistler visitors and residents while infusing the fun and joyful lifestyle of Whistler in the packaging. Whistler Chocolate is now a favourite among Whistler locals and visitors.

Always seeking to enhance their product, Whistler Chocolate was the first company to launch a new eco-friendly packaging in 2009. The inner wrap is 100% compostable and made out of wood fibre. It can be disposed of in a home or local composter. The box is 100% recyclable and is made from 35-75% post consumer waste.

In December 2012 their chocolate bars made history and rocketed into space to the International Space Station. Their chocolate bars were part of the menu for astronauts.

Nonna Pia’s Balsamic Reduction - Whistler BC

Unlike any other vinegar, velvety, dark brown balsamic is both sweet and tart, a complex flavor profile. Its uniqueness comes from the fact that it is made from unfermented ‘grape must’ instead of wine. It is traditionally aged in five different woods, the barrels of which are at least half a century old. As it ages, the vinegar evolves from a fluid vinegar to a syrup-like consistency: A 50-year-old balsamic will resemble molasses in its colour and thickness, and at that age has become a rare condiment, meted out with a medicine dropper to accent fine plates of food or great Parmigiano-Reggiano.

Chef Norm honed his cooking skills and great taste for food at a very young age, gleaning almost everything he knew from his mother Pia (‘Nonna Pia’ to his children). Because of Nonna Pia’s insightful wisdom and her patience in teachings, Chef Norm wanted to name the company after his mother, and that is how ‘Nonna Pia’s Gourmet Sauces’ was born in November of 2010.

In March of 2014, Nonna Pia’s Balsamic Glaze was chosen to participate in the CBC TV series Dragons Den. They secured a deal with ‘Dragon’ David Chilton and with fantastic mentoring from David dramatically increased their distribution in the 5 months following the filming, becoming a staple in many grocery stores and pantries. Their account base increased from 358 stores to over 1600 stores and their Dragons Den episode had not even been aired on television yet.

Nonna Pia’s has their own production facility locally in Whistler, where all their Balsamic Glazes are manufactured. Nonna Pia’s Balsamic Glazes are now sold in every major grocery chain in Canada and they have successfully launched their product into the United States as well.
